New Book: ‘Frontier Encounters: Knowledge and Practice at the Russian, Chinese and Mongolian Border'

Dear Colleague,

I am writing to let you know about a new book: ‘Frontier Encounters: Knowledge and Practice at the Russian, Chinese and Mongolian Border’, edited by Franck Billé, Grégory Delaplace and Caroline Humphrey.

Focusing on a highly important, yet rarely discussed topic – the thousands of miles of border between China and Russia – this work explores the two rising powers’ interactions with each other and with Mongolia at a local level. With contributions from anthropologists, sociologists and economists, ‘Frontier Encounters’ presents a range of perspectives on how the borders between these very different countries are produced and crossed.

The editors have chosen to publish this book with the innovative Open Book Publishers so that it can be read for free online. For more details about ‘Frontier Encounters’ and how it can be accessed, please visit our

We rely on our friends and colleagues to assist in publicising our books, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could recommend ‘Frontier Encounters’ to your library and to any relevant journals or bloggers in your field.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for more details about this book or what we do at OBP.
